I'm a freelance technical writer specialising in Linux-based software documentation (please get in touch if you think you can use my skills), living in Durham in the North of England.
My main hobby's Go, the Chinese board game - I run Durham Go Club, and our annual tournament, and attend around another 9 tournaments around the UK every year. I'm the Regional Representative of the British Go Association in the North East of England - isn't that exciting?
I'm a Linux hobbyist as well as a professional (the two often go together) and am heavily involved in a couple of computer-related groups.
On a less-structured basis, as a Durham alumna still living in the city and still involved with a couple of partly student-oriented groups, I seem to spend quite a lot of time providing moral support and cooking guidance to assorted students. I enjoy this a lot and sometimes wonder if I should try to drive my career to involve doing something like it professionally.
The main reason I've finally got around to setting up an LJ account is because I have set myself a challenge, which will be described in my first post. Let's hope I can stick to it ...
